Fr. Gannon, parochial vicar at Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys,
is a native of Cos Cob, Connecticut where he attended the local public schools. Active in Boy Scouts,
he is an Eagle Scout. He graduated with a B.A. in History
and a minor in education from Saint Anselm College,
in New Hampshire, in 1987. After teaching several years, he attended
the University of Maine, where he received an M.A. in history.
Fr. Gannon entered Saint John Fisher in Trumbull, Ct. for pre-theology,
then attended the North American College in
Rome, Italy, where he received an S.T.B. from the Pontifical Gregorian University
and an M.A. in theology from the University of Saint Thomas Aquinas.
He was ordained to the transitional diaconate in Rome, and served as a deacon
at Assumption parish in Westport, Ct. Fr. Gannon was ordained to the Roman Catholic
priesthood by Bishop Edward Egan at Saint Augustine’s Cathedral in Bridgeport,
Connecticut in May 1997. He was immediately assigned to Saint Marguerite
Bourgeoys. In addition to regular duties as parochial vicar, Fr.
Gannon is the director of religious education, RCIA coordinator, youth group
spiritual director, spiritual director for the local Legion of Mary,
director for altar servers, vacation bible camp director, and lector
trainer.
