The great corpus of Christ, suspended behind the altar, was hand carved of linden wood by the Demetz Art Studio, Italy. Above the great gold-onyx tabernacle, it draws prayerful attention to Christ's real Presence in the Tabernacle. Expect some finishing touches to the altar area: 1) Above each window, gold-leaf Edwardian bows, sculpted in wood, gracefully appointing the frame line of the window. The effect of the bows will draw the eye from the depiction of the gold-etched Holy Spirit painted on the ceiling centered above, down laterally to the bows and then again laterally down to the gold-onyx tabernacle-altar; 2) a seated God the Father, done in tones of off-white to egg-shell, to sit enthroned (almost subliminally) above and behind the Holy Spirit on the ceiling above the altar; 3) more elaborate candelabra on either side of the tabernacle; 4) white onyx veneer covering the altar columns. These four adornments can be given as memorials. |
