The window seen to left of the statue of Mary is a shell with water flowing from it into the river Jordan. Below the window is the Baptismal Font. A new font is under construction - a Henry Richardson original design. The font is to be made of layered glass rings, each ring descending in perimeter shaping a hemispheric bowl. Thirty-six inches in diameter, it will sit on a glass column rising from a water-filled onyx base. Light piercing the glass column will spread through the hemisphere accompanied by coursing water, up into the hemisphere and down through the glass rings. Truly of water and light, the Baptismal Font will reflect the image it suggests: Baptism. This Baptismal Font may be memorialized at $9,500. |
